Ashley Lawrence

Chief Executive Officer

Ashley is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the Trinnovo Group. He is co-founder and Director of Broadgate Search, BioTalent, Trust in Soda and Social Enterprise Ex-MilitaryCareers.

Experience

Ashley graduated with an Executive MBA from Cass Business School in 2018. He first got into the recruitment sector, aged 18, joining a FTSE 250 global recruitment company. In 2008, he was headhunted to join the world’s second largest privately-owned staffing agency to head up the contracts new business function, reporting directly to the managing director. Aged 21, he was responsible for a multi-million-pound P&L and achieved revenue growth of over 80% year on year, three years later, Ashley set up his first enterprise, Strategic-Move, a leader and innovator in the UK Recruitment to Recruitment sector. At the same time, he co-founded Ex-MilitaryCareers.com which has become a leading social enterprise for the ex-military transitioning out of the armed forces. His contribution to the wellbeing of ex-military personnel was recognised in 2015 with an invitation to Buckingham Palace to a reception hosted by the Queen and Princes William and Harry. At Trinnovo, his focus encompasses the Group’s culture and people as well as developing its operations and business strategy.

Ben Adams

Chief Operating Officer

Ben is a Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Trinnovo Group. He is co-found/ and Managing Director of Broadgate Search, co-founder and Director of BioTalent and co-founder and Managing Director of Trust in Soda (Ireland).

Experience

Ben graduated with a 2.1 in Business from the University of the West of England in 2011. Within two years of working in recruitment, he was heading up a team of ten working in the sphere of financial services – one of the youngest team leaders of his generation. In 2015, he co-founded Broadgate Search, a governance recruitment specialist, overseeing its extraordinary growth in staff numbers, client base, turnover and reputation – with offices now established in London, Dublin and Manchester - and further expansion planned. This success culminated in the company winning the prestigious APSCo Company of the Year £3-£10million award for 2018 and Broadgate Search (Ireland) winning the coveted NRF Best Newcomer award. Ben was also shortlisted for the 2018 NatWest Service Industries Entrepreneur of the Year award. In March 2018, he co-founded BioTalent, a specialist agency in the pharmaceutical and bio-technology sphere, and is Managing Director and co-founder of the new business, Trust in Soda (Ireland) which focuses on digital recruitment. Ben is responsible for developing new business and overseeing regional development in Manchester and Dublin, as well as nurturing and consolidating relations with existing clients in the UK, Ireland and wider Europe. He is also a Director of the social enterprise, Ex-Military Careers, the group’s core CSR commitment.

Mike Smith

Non-Executive Director

Experience

Mike has over 25 years’ experience within the recruitment industry across the globe in multiple sectors including Finance, Engineering, Energy, Accountancy, Legal and Consultancy. He was previously Managing Director for Huxley Associates overseeing expansion for the UK, into Europe, South East Asia, and the United States. He was a member of the S3 Executive Board and from 2009 to 2015 was the Managing Director for all S3 businesses in the UK and Ireland. Mike joined Trinnovo as Non-Executive Director in 2016.

James Cox

Managing Director at BioTalent

James is a Director of the Trinnovo Group. His remit is spearheading the development and growth of European business. He is also responsible for business continuity and systems for the group. He is co-founder and Managing Director of BioTalent.

Experience

James graduated with a 2.1 in Human Geography from the University of Reading in 2011. After a career in sales and professional photography, he moved into recruitment - with an executive search firm specialising in the life sciences market in the UK and throughout the EU. James progressed fast. After three years, he was asked to head up a new office in London to build a department focused on the life science verticals market throughout Europe. James has a track record of growing teams and businesses, whilst continuing to break billing records across the wider business. He successfully grew his team to over 25 consultants and achieved Top Permanent Consultant awards five years running. In March 2018, he co-founded BioTalent, a niche provider focusing on high growth, cutting edge life sciences markets, including stem and cell therapies, medical devices and biopharmaceuticals, across the UK and Europe. James is responsible for business development, staff learning and development, the executive search function and strategic growth planning at BioTalent, as well as leading Trinnovo’s expansion across Europe.

David Young

Managing Director at Trust in Soda

With over twelve years’ experience in recruitment, David has a proven track record of success in scaling high performing recruitment teams where staff retention, engagement and productivity, and a culture of trust, have been key. He has created productive and lucrative digital practices from the ground up for leading agencies, and signed partnerships with some of the biggest brands in the world.

Experience

With his passion for digital, David saw the opportunity to create a specialised and uniquely differentiated agency that could support the globe’s leading technology brands with niche talent. He co-founded SODA in 2013 with a vision to become that agency – to offer stand-alone levels of service and knowledge-based expertise. David has helped deliver a culture at SODA that encourages outside the box thinking, team work, passion and a commitment to getting it right for clients, candidates and staff which has been central in establishing SODA as a leading UK digital recruitment agency with a global reach.

Matthew Perrett

Chairman

Matthew has over 20 years’ experience in international staffing across the STEM, Healthcare and Professional Services sectors.

Experience

He has founded and successfully exited companies to trade and private equity acquirers and continues to invest in staffing and affiliated businesses. Matthew currently works with a portfolio of privately owned and PE-backed companies in the roles of Chairman and NED, supporting management teams to define and implement value growth initiatives, and advising shareholders on exit strategy and deal execution.

James Lawrence

Managing Director at Ex-Military Careers

James Lawrence is a board member of the Trinnovo Group. He is co-founder and Director of Social Enterprise Ex-Military Careers.

Experience

James joined the British Army at the age of 16. He served in, the Princess of Wales’s Royal Infantry Regiment, and the 16 Air Assault Brigade, with tours that included Northern Ireland and Iraq.

When he left the army in 2005, he moved into financial services, focusing on the foreign exchange markets and over ten years built a successful career, reaching senior management & director levels.

In 2015 founded a private college partnered with London Stock Exchange Group focusing on accredited trading programmes designed to develop and hone investment and trading skills in financial markets, which he scaled to the point of a private equity funding from an institutional investor. And in 2019 sold to a times top 100 fast track company.

He co-founded Ex-MilitaryCareers.com which has become a leading social enterprise for the ex-military transitioning out of the armed forces. His contribution to ex-military personnel was recognised in 2015 with an invitation to Buckingham Palace to a reception hosted by the Queen and Princes William and Harry.

James has a passion for tech sales and marketing automation, and excels in positive impact strategies He is passionate about the potential the ex-military offers the business community and equally passionate about the significance of education and practical training.

In 2018 was profiled in the Sage worldwide top power 50 veteran entrepreneurs. He currently acts as London ambassador for X-Forces which supports ex-military start-up and scale-up businesses.
